¡Hola! My name is Maestra Colón and I am currently the Spanish teacher at Andrew Jackson. My family is from Puerto Rico and I regularly visit every Christmas and for many holidays. I've been a CPS teacher since 1998 and absolutely love working with our students and families of AJLA. I've taught in a variety classroom settings. I've been a regular classroom teacher, technology teacher, ESL coordinator and recently obtained my Administrative degree. I hope to bring all of my experiences together to give our students the best education I possibly can.
My goal is to make students as proficient as possible in the language domains of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. Language and communication are the heart of human experience. Through hard work and good study habits students can build their skills to become linguistically and culturally equipped to communicate successfully in a modern society. They will gain knowledge and understanding of other cultures and develop insight into the nature of language and culture.
